General Elections – November 2024

First Day to Apply for a Ballot by Mail: Monday, January 1, 2024
*First day to file does not move because of New Year’s Day holiday. An “Annual ABBM” or FPCA for a January or February 2024 election may be filed earlier, but not earlier than the 60th day before the date of the January of February election.

Last Day to Register to Vote in the General Election: Monday, October 7, 2024

First Day of Early Voting for the General Election: Monday, October 21, 2024

Last Day to Apply for a Ballot by Mail in the General Election (request must be received, not merely postmarked): Friday, October 25, 2024

Last Day of Early Voting in the General Election: Friday, November 1, 2024

General Election Day: Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Deadline for Ballot by Mail to be Received in the General Election: Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. (unless overseas deadline applies)

Voting by Mail

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must:

  • Be 65 years or older. You may apply for a ballot for an individual election or for an annual application which will apply for the remainder of the voting year

  • Be disabled. You may apply for a ballot for an individual election or for an annual application which will apply for the remainder of the voting year

  • Be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance

  • Or be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.
